Suburbs? No Problem. Drink up at These 4 Local Bars in Broomfield

Bars in Broomfield

So you are in the Westminster/Broomfield area and want to go out for drinks, but do not want to make the trek downtown. We know it can be frustrating finding the right spot when the list suggestions provided are outlet malls, chain restaurants, and other suburbia garbage.  Fret not my drinking companions, your night will not be wasted; there are a still few bars in Broomfield where you can get a little rowdy. Take a gander below at a few of our favorite local spots.

Old Man Bar

» Our bar of choice in the summer seasons

Good For: volleyball, back patio, BBQ - Swipe for more pics

The Old Man is so much more than just an "Old Bar." A local Broomfield pastime, the Old Man comes to life in the summer seasons as they offer a back-patio bar complete with two sand volleyball courts. These courts are usually reserved during the weekdays for league play, but they keep Friday night blocked off for their massive “Friday night drop-in" shit show, and Saturday for open play.

If you are looking for the place to be on Friday night, check out the Old Man - it can become quite the party.

If you are interested in joining league play at the Old Man, you can hit up the dudes at IVP following this link.

Perks: pretty good bbq for a Colorado dive bar, sand V-ball courts, and back patio.

Drawback: Much better in the summer when you can access the back patio.

Hours: Sun-Thurs. 11am-1am, Fri-Sat. 11am-2am

Frolic Brewing Company

Good For: sports, outside patio, Mario Kart, good pizza, serves liquor as well

Frolic combines the best of all worlds: they are a brewery, they have a great patio, they serve bomb grub, 15+ TV's for sports viewing, and they own a liquor license which is perfect for those of you who are not beer drinkers. As you can imagine, this draws quite a crowd - random crowd, but a crowd nonetheless. Isn’t that what we are all looking for? A chill place where we can get a little tipsy and mingle with the local scene. Oh, did we mention they have Mario Kart in the back?

Frolic is a great spot if you are looking to watch your favorite sports team while drinking some dank beer - or if you want to get a little typsy playing "drunk driver" on Mario Kart.

Perks: Mario Kart in the back, 15+ TVs for sports, bomb pizza.

Drawback: Not the greatest of locations. But fuck it, you are in the burbs. Plus, the next few places on our list are just a hopscotch away.

Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm. Check em out here.

Wonderland Brewing Company

Good For: date night, ping pong, beer lovers, drinking games

Wonderland is your spot if bar games are what you have in mind. They are a great option when you are looking to be a little more active and not be restricted to sitting at the bar. Half of their brewery layout is designated for ping pong tables and pinball machines. This makes for a great spot when you are on a first date or need an activity to keep things fresh; it also makes for a great spot when you have a group of people that want to get a little rowdy over some ping pong shenanigans.

Perks: ping pong and pinball, great for first or second dates if you are looking to grab a drink.

Drawback: if someone in your group does not like beer, it is not the right place.

Hours: Sun. 11am-9pm, Mon-Tues. 3pm-10pm, Thurs. 11am-10pm, Fri-Sat. 11am-11pm.

North Side Tavern

Good For: live music, karaoke, sports viewing, food, boozy brunch

North Side is your typical gastropub wildcard.  They are a full-service bar that serves grub food mixed with sports viewing, live music, and karaoke every Friday night - they are also the spot you want to go for a boozy brunch.

If you are looking for the lively environment you would associate with a local karaoke bar, then North Side is your spot.

It should be noted that this is another bar where you will get a mixed crowd - not that it should deter you, but it's something to keep in mind when deciding where to go.

Perks: live music, karaoke, sports viewing, food, solid brunch. Check em out here.

Drawback: can be hit or miss...sometimes.

Hours: Sun. 10am-9pm, Mon. 11am-9pm, Tues-Thurs. 11am-11pm, Fri. 11am-12pm, Sat. 10am-12pm.
