When it’s Time to Drink, Here are a Few Steamboat Happy Hour Gems

Slopeside Steamboat Happy Hour

Is there anything better than sipping back a couple brewskis at a local bar in the middle of a Colorado ski town?  How about sipping them at happy hour prices? When it is time to put the drinking-hat on, save a little money by hitting a good old fashion Steamboat Happy Hour.

Slopeside Grill

Happy Hour: 3:00-6:00pm & 9:00-11:00pm

Good For: Ski season, football, lawn chair patio, live music, late night munchies & happy hour - Swipe for more pics

Literally slope-side to the Christie ski lift, Slopeside Grill offers happy hour that is perfect for any situation. They have great TV selection during Football season, a killer late-night happy hour from 9:00pm-11:00pm (with $9 pizzas when the munchies kick in), live music Thursday-Sunday, and a lawn patio perfect for a bluebird day.  Pull up a chair, grab a couple drinks, and enjoy the Steamboat goodness.

Happy Hour: 3:00-7:00pm & 9:00-11:00pm. $4 Beer & Wells, $5 Wines (Late Night: $4 pints & $9 pizzas).

Perks: They have a great lawn patio with live music. To view their music calendar, check them out here at Slopeside Grill.

Drawback: Heavy crowds during winter and holiday weekends.

Sunpie's Bistro

Happy Hour: 4:00-6:00pm

Good For: Summer/Spring happy hour

If you want to go where the locals go, head to Sunpie's.  With a lawn patio nestled along the Yampa River, Sunpie's is one bad ass place to grab a few drinks during the summer months.  Technically the happy hour is from 4:00-6:00pm with $1 off drafts; but it almost feels like Sunpie's is always on happy hour.  You are not going to spend a lot of money as they offer some of the lowest-priced drinks in town.

For a cool backyard BBQ vibe, head to Sunpie's during the spring and summer seasons.

Happy Hour: 4:00-6:00pm. $1 off drafts (which are cheap already).

Perks: Great lawn patio along the river and cheap drinks.

Drawback: It is not the best place to go during colder months.  Their outside lawn bar is what makes it great.

Los Locos

Happy Hour: 3:00-6:00pm

Los Locos Steamboat Happy Hour

Good For: Quick Bite-Tacos/Burritos & Margs

If margarita’s, tacos, and burritos are more your style, stop into Los Locos for their daily happy hour from 3:00-6:00pm.

Los Locos makes for a quick Steamboat happy hour pit-stop when you are looking to down a few tacos while sipping back a margarita. The chill staff, infused tequila, watermelon jalapeno marg, and local vibe are sure to set you in the right mood before a night of shenanigans.

Happy Hour: Daily 3:00-6:00pm. $4 house margs, $1 off tacos, apps, and beers.

Perks: The staff always hooks it up. It is just a cool local vibe.

Drawback: It is not really a bar, but the atmosphere is super chill.  We spend a lot of time here before hitting the bars.

McKnight's Irish Pub

Happy Hour: Daily 3:00-6:00pm & 9:00-10:00pm

McKnights Steamboat Happy Hour

Good For: Drinks & A Meal (Winter Cocktails & Great Pub Food)

If you are a sucker for the Pub and Tavern style bar, then McKnights Irish Pub is your spot.  With tasty pub eats, and stiff winter-themed cocktails, McKnights gives off a cozy vibe that is perfect during the colder months. Grab an Irish Coffee, Hot Tottie, or Snuggler, and cap off your day of skiing with a warm winter cocktail.

Happy Hour: Daily 3:00-6:00pm & 9:30-11:00pm. Daily food specials, $4 drafts, $3 Coors, 2$ off wine, $3.50 wells.

Perks: Pretty grub food and stiff warm cocktails in winter.

Drawback: Can be a tab bit pricey, but not bad for a resort town.

Carls Tavern

Happy Hour: Daily 3:00-6:00pm

Carls Steamboat Happy Hour

Good For: Heavy drinking happy hour, football/sports viewing

Carls is one of our favorite happy hours to hit when we want to get our drink on. Located central to pretty much everything in Steamboat, Carls is especially great during football season. With a daily happy hour from 3:00-6:00pm, and a shot/beer combo you can get for under $7, we have found ourselves starting the night much earlier than expected on several occasions. If football, beer, and whiskey are calling your name, check out Carls Taven.

Happy Hour: Daily 3:00-6:00pm. 50% off Wines, $5 house margs, $4 wells & shots, $2.5 Session beers, $2 Bud/Coors.

Perks: Great sports viewing and cheap drinks.

Drawback: The food is good, but I would prefer Slopeside, McKnights, or Rex’s if food is a priority.
